True to form, expecting mother Jessica Simpson paid no expense on her own over-the-top, baby shower extravaganza. After finally picking out a trendy name for her baby girl, Maxwell (along with the more feminine nickname, ‘Maxi’), Jessica knew it was time to throw a fabulous, show-stopping shower. Behind those fashionable D&G oval shades, this first-time mother refuses to admit her anxiety over the birth, explaining: “I figure if all these women around the world can do it, I can do it.” She has little reason to worry; she and fiancé Eric Johnson expect a healthy (and heavy) 10-pound baby girl.

To ensure the shower’s success, Jessica called in event coordinator and planner Mindy Weiss, who brought in legions of balloons, decorative spring tulips and a variety of yellow-and-pink themed decorations. The guest list included sister Ashlee Simpson and close friends Ellen Pompeo and Jessica Alba, along with a number of co-ed baby guests! As the kids played, Jessica unwrapped gifts from her adoring family and friends: clothing, toys, books, stuffed animals and tons of other baby accessories, lovingly wrapped and delivered to the celebrity. Nearly 50 guests attended the festivities in Los Angeles, making this shower one of the top baby bashes of 2012!

All in all, Jessica is not being shy about the new addition to her family. After displaying her swollen baby belly in a tight, blue snakeskin dress at the shower, it was leaked that readers can also catch a nude photo of her pregnant belly in the April issue of Elle magazine – available March 30th!
